Monitor

To observe the DMX data Beam is receiving and sending, Beam has a Monitor window that shows the DMX channel values of the selected Input or Output Universe. You can open the Monitor view by selecting the third tab in Beam's left sidebar, going to Window > Monitor, or use the keyboard shortcut CMD/CTRL + 3.

Monitor (Grid)
  1. Input/Output: Switch between monitoring the Input or Output Universe.
  2. Universe: Select the Beam Universe you want to monitor.
  3. View mode: Switch between the Grid and Bars view modes.
  4. External Monitor Window: Opens the Monitor in a separate window. Also available via the keyboard shortcut CMD/CTRL + Option/Alt + 3 or Window > External Monitor.
  5. Grid Monitor: The (default) Grid Monitor view displays each DMX address of the selected Beam Universe as a cell with the channel name, address index and value displayed as digits, and the value visualized as a vertical slider in the background of the cell. The markers above channel cells indicate the fixtures the channels belong to and their patch ranges.
  6. On-hover tooltip: Hovering over a channel cell highlights it and all the channels belonging to the same fixture, and shows a tooltip with the channel index, full name, value as raw DMX value and percentage, as well as the full name of the fixture the channel belongs to and its patch range. Hovering over a fixture marker highlights all channels of the fixture and shows a tooltip with the fixture name and patch range.
