Videosync

1.1.3

June 29, 2022

Additions and improvements

  • Improved the behavior of Simpler for when it's loading videos into RAM, resulting in less warnings about RAM pressure in Videosync's Console.

Fixes

  • Fixed an issue that intermittently caused plugins not to initiate after loading a Live Set.

1.1.2

June 2, 2022

Additions and improvements

  • ISFLoader: The initial "Drop Shader Here" text now changes to "Device deactivated" whenever the device is deactivated before a shader is loaded and initialized. This is to indicate that shaders can't be dropped onto the ISFLoader while in this state, but also that when loading a Live Set with the ISFLoader disabled, the shader won't be loaded and initialized in Videosync until the device is enabled for the first time since the Live Set has loaded.

Fixes

  • ISFLoader: GUI-state parameters are no longer listed in the Automation Control Chooser.
  • ISFLoader: Automating a mapped parameter should no longer fill up Live's undo history.

New features

Tabula

A new visual instrument filled with unique features:

  • Use the lookup table to map MIDI notes to specific levels of brightness, and to then change the colors of these brightness levels.
  • Control and modulate Opacity and Note Width (the brightness range triggered by a note) with two separate envelopes with a envelope-looping option.
  • Choose another video signal with the sidechain input, of which the brightness levels will then be colored and triggered with MIDI notes Use Tabula in conjunction with another video signal for its sidechain input for the most interesting results.

ISFLoader

Short for Interactive Shader Format Loader, this device allows for easily loading and using ISF shaders.

  • ISF shaders generally have number of parameters to manipulate or generate visuals. These parameters are loaded into a configure window that can then be controlled in realtime. Since the kind of parameters can vary, the interface may look slightly different with each loaded shader file.
  • Map any shader parameters to the device macros in order to automate them.
  • Networked playback is supported, as long as the shader files are stored in the File Search Path on the system that runs Videosync.

CropMap

CropMap replaces the the Crop effect and adds a number of features:

  • Crop applies no scaling to the incoming image and may be used to discard parts of the image, depending on Invert and Feather settings. Depending on Wrap Mode it can also be used to repeat/clamp a part of the incoming image.
  • Bilinear applies linear scaling to the incoming image to fit inside the bounds.
  • Perspective applies perspective accurate scaling to the incoming image to fit inside the bounds.

Full HAP support

While HAP playback was already supported in Session View and Simpler, it is now also fully supported in the Arrangement View.

Pre-FX, Post-FX, Post-Mixer tapping points for sidechaining

Tabula, External In, Displacement and Keyer now all have menus to select tapping points for their sidechain inputs.

Simpler image support

Simpler now supports image files with the following extensions:

  • .jpg
  • .png
  • .svg

Milliseconds/Beats envelopes

Tabula's envelopes have the option to switch their duration between an amount of beats or seconds. Simpler's envelopes now also feature this option.

External In

  • The Syphon and Device source menus will now be grey and read "Not connected" when Videosync hasn't been launched yet.
  • The Tapping Point and Scaling menus are now grey until a source has been selected.
  • Videosync's Syphon outputs are no longer selectable as sources in Syphon mode. From now on only the device's Track mode should be used for this.

Other improvements

  • When dragging an unsupported file into Simpler, the display will now display "File format not supported" and will then return to its previous state after two seconds
  • When closing Videosync's installation dialogue before it was complete, a prompt will appear to ask if you are sure.
  • ColorControl's UI has been improved.
  • Videosync now ships with a variety of presets, which are installed into the Videosync 1.1 Plugins folder in the User Library.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed a crash that occured when playing a file in the Arrangement View of which the file wasn't found on the system.
  • Fixed a bug that was responsible for MIDI notes not triggering visuals under certain circumstances.
  • HueSaturation's Hue parameter does not jump to -1 and +1 anymore when using a macro to control it.
  • HAP files in Session View with a non-zero start marker now play back correctly.
  • Playing multiple HAP files with various resolutions and codecs now play back correctly.
