Using the fixture profiles

Saving the fixture profile

Once your fixture profile is ready, you can save it as an .sbf file using the Save button in the top menu bar:

Save fixture profile

As the Fixture Editor is a web app, this will, depending on your browser settings, ask you for a download location or immediately download the fixture profile file into your Downloads folder.

Using the profile in Beam

Beam for Live

  1. Place the fixture profile file into your Documents/Beam/Fixture Profiles/User folder.
  2. If Beam is running, restart it.
  3. You should now be able to add the fixture to any Fixture Patch.

Beam for Max

  1. Place the fixture profile anywhere within your global Max Search Path.
    • We recommend having a dedicated folder for all your custom fixture profiles and adding it to Max's File Preferences. This can also be the same as Beam for Live's fixture profile location (Documents/Beam/Fixture Profiles/User).
    • Placing your custom fixture profiles into Packages/Beam for Max/misc is no longer recommended, as you might lose your files when the package is updated.
    • Beam for Max performs scanning for fixture profiles when it is first initialized, so it cannot find fixture profiles in a folder containing a currently open Max patcher or detect them when added as dependencies of a Max project.
  2. If Max is running, restart it.
  3. You should now be able to add the fixture to any Fixture Patch.
