Beam for Live

  • Fixed an issue that could cause Live or Beam to freeze or crash unexpectedly, particularly while using Beam in conjunction with Videosync. The issue originated in the Max for Live devices, so please allow the User Library Installer to install the latest versions of the Beam devices. Additionally, confirm that your Live Sets use only the updated Beam 1.6 devices to avoid future crashes of this nature.

Addressing individual fixtures in a tag​

  • Generic: When multiple Parameter slots are set to the same modulation keyword, the values for that modulation are now distributed across the number of fixtures in a tag, allowing to address individual fixtures or groups of fixtures in a tag from within a single device, using Live's automatable/mappable parameters.
  • Plugin SDK: It is now possible to address individual fixtures or groups of fixtures in a tag when building Instrument devices. This can be done by sending a list of modulation values prepended by any modulation keyword to the [lightDevice instrumentbase] abstraction. The values in a list will be distributed across the number of fixtures in tag.

Misc. changes​

  • Minimum supported macOS version is now 10.13.
  • Beam is now distributed as a DMG file, instead of a .app directly.

Bug fixes​

  • Fixed the issue where renaming Beam.app or Beam Beta.app would result in application not opening anymore.
  • Patch Editor: Profile menus now contain all profiles even when the trial has expired.
  • Patch Editor: Assigning C-2 (MIDI note number 0) to a Tag is now possible.
  • Fixture Editor: Fixed label spelling.
  • Generic: All Parameter Controls can now be modulated in Session View MIDI clips.
  • Generic: Fixed the issue where Parameter Control 12's dropdown menu would still read "Disconnected" after a connection with Beam was established.
  • Par and LFO: Ensure all Live parameters have Update limit set to 16ms.
