DMXking.com USB DMX​

Beam for Live now recognizes and supports DMXking.com USB DMX interfaces.

Improvements​

  • Patch Editor: The Test button now also sets the R/G/B/W channels to the maximum intensity. This makes it possible to test a wider range of fixtures, including fixtures without a master intensity/dimmer channel.
  • Fixture Editor: Instead of using RGB as the default template configuration, an empty fixture profile is now used as a starting point.
  • Fixture Editor: Color Temperature Macro merge mode is now set to HTP.
  • Fixture Editor: CYM + Dim Macro changed to CMY + Dim.

Bug fixes​

  • Resolved issue where the Patch Editor / Fixture Editor / Monitor windows were black after being minimised and un-minimised again.
  • Fixture Editor: Fixed a bug where Magenta and Yellow in CMY + Dim Macro were mapped to wrong components.

Bug fixes​

  • Fixed issue where Videosync and Beam could no longer both connect to Live simultaneously.
  • Fixed a bug where bringing the Patch Editor or Fixture Editor windows to front via the Window menu bar or corresponding keyboard shortcuts when the Monitor was active would not work, regardless of whether the Patch Editor/Fixture Editor windows were open in the background or not.

New features​

Monitor: Grid view​

  • Added a new default Monitor view that visualises the output DMX data as a grid, with a cell for each DMX address, displaying the DMX address index and the DMX value as digits, as well as visualising the DMX value as a vertical slider in the background of a cell.
  • The previous default slider-based Monitor view is now known as the "Compact" view and is accessible via the "Compact" toggle switch.

Improvements​

  • Improved performance: it is now possible to work more reliably with sets containing larger amounts of Beam devices and automated parameters.
  • Stopping the transport now pauses the ongoing MIDI-triggered envelopes.
  • More accurate envelope release timing.
  • The default update rate for FTDI devices (such as Enttec Open DMX USB interface) is set to 30 Hz, instead of 40 Hz. This reduces the occasional DMX signal dropouts (manifesting as lights flickering), known to occur with this type of devices.
  • The FTDI devices update rate can now be set via Preferences.
  • Monitor is now more CPU-friendly.
  • Monitor window can now be more flexibly resized.
  • Monitor's Compact view now always stretches to fill the window.
  • Significantly improved Beam user interface responsiveness, particularly noticeable when a patch contains many fixtures and the Monitor window is active.
  • Fixture Editor: always sort Attributes by their Channels, even if they are in a different order in the fixture profile file.

Bug fixes​

  • Fixed an issue where sometimes some Beam devices would not be initialized when opening a Live Set.
  • Fixed an issue with Beam not receiving all the data (MIDI notes and parameter automation values) from Max for Live devices in situations where many devices are used.
  • Fixed a bug that was responsible for MIDI notes not triggering envelopes, if the transport was at a different location before playback was resumed (e.g. when looping).
  • Right-clicking within Beam application windows no longer shows an irrelevant context menu.
