Hardware and power
There are several things you have to care about when using high-powered and heavy equipment. Without covering this extensively, here is a list of things you may have to be aware of.
Power and mechanics
- Maximum load of 16 and 32 Ampere power groups.
- Preventing electricity generator overloading (at festivals mainly).
- 3000 Watt strobes and peak currents.
- Voltage peaks in unbalanced power circuits.
- Separating computer power from the lighting grid's power.
- 110 vs 220 Voltt sockets. Most fixtures support both, but it can't hurt to check the manuals.
- Power socket types.
- Handling smoke machines, foggers versus hazers.
- Interchangable gobos and color wheels.
Rigging
- Making a power and DMX cable routing plan.
- Maximum weight support of rigs.
- Safety regulations when lifting heavy fixtures.
- Safety regulations when climbing high rigs.
- Safety regulations when using stage lifts (Genies).
- Epilepsy warnings.
